Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification & Experience

Candidates must possess the following essential qualification and experience for the Security Officer post:

  • Ex-Servicemen JCO (Subedar or higher rank) OR equivalent rank in other Para-military forces with minimum of 10 years’ experience in security.
  • For Short Service Commissioned Officers and incumbents holding the position of Assistant Commandant in CRPF/BSF/ITBP etc. in pay scale Rs. 8000–13500 (Pre-revised) – minimum 05 years’ experience in security.
  • For Inspector from Para-Military Forces – minimum 10 years’ experience in security.

2. Age Limit & Relaxation

  • Maximum Age: 35 years as on 02-02-2026 (last date of receipt of application).
  • The date for determining age limit, experience and qualifications is 02-02-2026 up to 5:30 PM.
  • SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against UR vacancy are not eligible for age relaxation.
  • Relaxation in age limit is available only for eligible Ex-Servicemen as per Government of India rules under Ex-Servicemen (Re-employment in Central Civil Services and Posts) Rules, 1979 as amended.
  • Not applicable to serving Armed Forces personnel (except those being released after earning pension) and Paramilitary Forces personnel.

3. Nationality

The applicant must be a citizen of India. All applicants must fulfill the essential requirements and conditions as on 02-02-2026.

Job Description

The Security Officer will be responsible for overall security management of CSIR-CIMFR campus and its units, including supervision of security measures, record maintenance, and handling security-related emergencies.

  • Supervising security measures for safety of CSIR-CIMFR properties and units.
  • Maintaining records related to movement of men and materials, deployment of security personnel in all shifts, handling visitors, security cameras, and enforcement of security rules and procedures.
  • Working round the clock (24×7) as required and attending in person to security-related emergencies.
  • Conducting investigations into theft, pilferage, accidents, sabotage or subversive activities and coordinating with local law and order authorities; knowledge of local language is an added advantage.
  • Use and maintenance of firearms.
  • Firefighting and combating fire in emergencies.
  • Any other duty assigned by the competent authority.

Age Limit

  • Upper age limit not exceeding 35 years as on the last date of submission of application (02-02-2026 at 5:30 PM).
  • Date for determining age limit, experience and qualifications is the closing date for receipt of applications.
  • No age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against UR vacancy.
  • Age relaxation available only for eligible Ex-Servicemen as per Government of India rules under Ex-Servicemen (Re-employment in Central Civil Services and Posts) Rules, 1979 as amended.

Application Fee

  • Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable Application Fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only).

  • Web generated e-receipt of SBI payment must be enclosed with the application form.
  • No other mode of payment is accepted.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected through the following stages:

  • Physical and Personality Assessment Test (qualifying in nature).
  • Written Test (for candidates who qualify the physical and personality assessment test).
  • Final merit list based on performance in competitive written examination (primarily Paper-II as per syllabus).
  • Tie cases will be resolved as per CSIR Letter No. 5-1(211)/2014-PD dated 30.05.2023 and any subsequent amendments.

Written Test Pattern

Candidates who qualify the physical test will be allowed to appear for the written test, consisting of two papers:

  • Paper-I: OMR-based or Computer Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Test.
  • Paper-II: Subjective type.
  • Paper-I (Mental Ability and Personality Assessment Test): 100 questions, 100 marks, 90 minutes, no negative marking.
  • Threshold marks for Paper-I: 30%. Only candidates securing at least 30% in Paper-I will have Paper-II evaluated.
  • Paper-II: Total 100 marks, 2 hours duration – Comprehension (25), Report Writing (25), Security Regulations & Firefighting (25), General Awareness (25).
  • Minimum threshold marks for Paper-II shall not be less than 35% (to be notified before test).
  • Final merit list based on Paper-II marks only for candidates who secure more than minimum threshold marks.
  • Medium of exam: English and Hindi (bilingual question papers; exam can be taken in either language).
  • Standard of exam: Graduation level.

Salary / Stipend

  • Scale of Pay: Level-7 as per 7th CPC, Rs. 44,900–1,42,400.
  • Approximate total emoluments: Rs. 78,000/- per month at minimum of scale, including House Rent Allowance as admissible in Dhanbad.
  • Benefits include DA, HRA (if accommodation not provided), Transport Allowance and other allowances as per CSIR/GoI norms.
  • New entrants governed by New Pension Scheme (NPS) 2004 as adopted by CSIR; those from Government/Autonomous Bodies/PSUs with Govt. pattern pension continue under CCS (Pension) Rules 1972 (now 2021), as applicable.

  3. Read the advertisement completely before filling the form. All columns are mandatory; write “Not Applicable (NA)” where not relevant.
  4. Fill the application form in English/Hindi, affix recent self-attested passport size colour photograph and sign the form.
  5. Pay the application fee of Rs. 500/- (if applicable) through SBI Collect via SBI payment gateway available at CIMFR website and take a print-out of the e-receipt.
  6. Attach self-attested copies of required documents (age proof, educational qualifications, experience, discharge certificate, caste certificate, NOC if applicable, etc.) along with web generated SBI e-receipt.

  • Experience on part-time, daily wage, visiting/guest faculty basis will not be counted as valid experience.
